Human Nature: An exhibition of visual art exploring our changing relationship with the environment. On 14th and 15th October, the UK’s first show dedicated to environmental art popped up under the arches of Hoxton, London. Human Nature, a unique celebration of emerging and cutting edge environmental art, attracted many hundreds of visitors over its two days. Sponsored by Abundance, the new mixed medium exhibition showcased photography; artworks made from salvaged materials; paintings; sculpture and street art. Featuring over 80 works from 14 artists, the show explored our complex relationship with the environment. It looked at issues of climate change, extinction and man’s fundamental connection to nature. Hear the artists talk about their work in this short film. Including, ATM, Jonesy, Harry Cory Wright, Christiaan Nagel, Lesley Hilling, Ben Wilson and more. “What a show that was and I am so grateful to you for asking me to be part of it. Not many exhibitions that I have been part of … or been too for that matter, have ever had such a good vibe. Cohesive, canny, warm and fun. Love to be part of it again please.” Harry Cory Wright, Photographer. A first of a kind show, it included some of London’s best street art from ATM’s giant rare birds, Jonesy’s miniature bronze sculptures and unique work from both chewing gum artist Ben Wilson and ‘mushroom man’ Christiaan Nagel. Human Nature also saw sculpture from objects lost and found by London’s Lesley Hilling; mysterious photographs of natural symmetry by South Africa’s Oliver Barnett; evocative oils from Gordon Glyn-Jones and Northern Ireland’s Nicola Nemec. Human Nature received such positive feedback from the artists and visitors alike that we’re now very much planning for 2015. We’re much looking forward to producing the next Human Nature show already. We face huge challenges in how we interact with nature, and who better to explore our relationship with the world than artists. We’ve much to get on with.” Bruce Davis, Co-Founder and Joint Managing Director of Abundance added: “It was fantastic to have so many join us at Human Nature. The show was a great opportunity to meet investors old and new and enjoy reflecting on the art around us. We need art that says something about the world we are wasting and the value that exists in nature which we should all want to ensure is passed on to the next generations.” Human Nature was also sponsored by Snow Leopard Vodka, a British vodka company which gives 15% its profits directly to snow leopard conservation projects through the Snow Leopard Trust.
