Meaning in an age of Transformation

What can Vedic Astrology tell us about the world in its current state?

Vedic astrology, in accordance with the teachings of the Sage and Saint Sri Yuteswar tells us that the age of Kali Yuga has past, and the age of Dwapara Yuga (The Energy Age) is upon us.

What are the Yugas?

Dwapara Yuga refers to the ‘Age of Energy’ and is predicted to ensue rapid cultural, psychological and technological transformation. It is said we are in an ‘ascending age’; as such it signifies a rising of energies. Unlike the imagined harmony and stability that may be found in future civilisations; that of Treta Yuga (Age of Thought) or Satya Yuga (Pure Consciousness) ( The Yugas, Joseph Selbie ). The ascending Energy Age suggests that constant renewal, adaption and change will be the reality of our time.

Technology, for all its gifts and beatitudes, represents a threat to our vital humanness, our rights, needs, and essential nature. A task of our collective individuation will be to retain the old as much as we gain a new as the Techno-Energetic era comes into being. Our fundamental humanness must be put at the forefront, with technology being used as means to better the lives of people, not replace them.

The age of Energy is also the age of self-awareness and self-power. This is a precursor to self-mastery, which is said to the dominant characteristic of Treta Yuga, but still wholly accessible to one who applies himself in any evolutionary stage of the Astrological Ages. For individuals so pre-disposed to a transcendence of the ‘spirit of the times’, it will no doubt be essential in drawing original, relevant, and necessary insights, in a culture that may be collectively caught in the seemingly chaotic wave of rapid advancements.

Beyond the individual who wishes to develop themselves outside the majority of mankind at a given astrological time, what does the age of Dwapara Yuga (and Aquarius) mean for the majority, and how can we find ways in which to adapt, succeed and thrive?

Global Consciousness

The awakening of the intellect, the ever-increasing awareness of our Energy (or Life-force), and the increasing want and ability to Self-Govern will be important steps. We are presently at the beginning of Dwapara Yuga, so its callings to change are still in its infancy. Intimations of our ability to guide our lives beyond institutions and governments is only just beginning to take hold. Dwapara Yuga man is self-sufficient. From a Quantum perspective, and a more grossly material perspective, there are two potential insights that might be taken for how one could reclaim their power of self-sovereignty.

Quantum theory tells us that beyond the conditioned patterns of the brain, higher dimensional space or the realms of hyper-physics ( Pierre Teilhard de Chardin ), of which our consciousness is inextricably connected, contains an inter-connective geometrically structured meta-language of complete information. This is the realm of which intuitive insight and some forms of genius are obtained. This recognition tells us the source of being is accessed within, through a living connection to 'Divine magnetism' (Autobiography of a Yogi, by Paramansa Yogananda). Dwapara man in his quest for self-governance must take the step to look within, as a source of insight, knowledge and truth. Withdrawing his projections of power onto the institutionalised world.

Parallel with this, is the vast amount of information becoming available to us via the internet, now allowing man of the Energy age to take power over his own education outwardly, as much as inwardly. Nearly the entire content of knowledge known to the world up to this point is readily available to us. The significance of this is paramount. Through directed energy awareness, we can study any topic or field of which we so choose. The rapid and unceasing advancements that will take place in the coming decades and centuries, will require man to be continually learning, advancing his knowledge and renewing himself. This means our skills and capacities around learning will be more vital than ever. Through mindful awareness, recognising our inner dimension as a limitless source of information, and now our outer dimension as a practically limitless source of information, we can guide ourselves to new and profound understanding, whilst creating opportunities for application of that understanding.

With this in mind, where can we find meaning in our work and life, knowing that many discoveries, inventions, insights and modes of functioning will soon become obsolete or surpassed? When putting spirituality as the central axiom of this issue, the Buddhist notions and non-attachments and surrender become relevant. New ideas often come from synthesis of previously known information, that lead to emergent understanding; or, in a moment of intuition that often comes in a flash or a creative leap in thought. As stated in a previous paragraph, science is beginning to accept that information is already present in the higher dimensions of consciousness. Insights and ideas come to us when the mind-body reaches a certain level of vibratory resonance. When we resonate with higher dimensions, naturally our capacity for understanding will be higher. This represents a challenge for the ego. It is natural to want ownership of thoughts and ideas, when in reality they are gifted to us, we borrow them, but do not own them. Acknowledging this, we become more readily accepting of non-attachment and the surrendering of ideas, both by giving them freely to the world if they are deemed valuable and being more accepting of them becoming obsolete. This willingness to surrender also makes us available for new insights and ideas, allowing the flow of creativity to be fresh and abundant. Keeping our bowl empty allows it to be continually refilled.

When looking at cultural advancement linearly, each new discovery is as important as the one which preceded it. When looked at from a more overarching perspective, we discover advancements takes place in an environment that would be more aptly described as non-local and interpenetrative. This means that information is shared across fields of knowledge (spatially), and across time, both from the past, and retro-casually from the future. Modern Psi research in the field of Consciousness Studies tells us how Psychics, advanced Meditators and Prophets have drawn information from the future and similarly predicted the future with a great degree of accuracy.

_“The distinction between past present and future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion”_ – Einstein.

The unifying principal that remains constant across causative movements both forwards and backwards in time, is consciousness; namely, your conscious awareness in this present moment. You are a non-local point in space-time of which energy is concentrated, flowing and evolving. The meaning in this, is how we to choose to expand consciousness, and how we choose to direct energy in the world. What we cultivate and emanate, affects all other beings across the entire field of existence, both in Space-Time, Consciousness and Dimensionality. Everything you do is both influential and meaningful, in ways we can perceive and recognise and of which we are completely unaware.
