Andy Owen Cook

Andy Owen Cook is a writer and theatremaker from post-industrial South Yorkshire, UK. He is preeminently concerned with the absurdity of late-capitalism during the anthropocene. But he is also a founding member of Forest Sounds, a performance company that makes create radical, inclusive, participatory art. The Stage said Forest Sounds were “break[ing] spine-bristling new ground”, and The Quietus said their last show (Party After the End of the World) was “as good as any drug”. Andy says, “We try to make performances that our audiences love and absolutely cannot explain to their friends.” Andy has made work for Theatre Deli, Artsdepot, Wardrobe Theatre, UnShut Festival, Edinburgh Fringe, DINA Venue, DNweekeND, Grimm & Co., FLIM Nite, and others. He has been published by The New Fire Tree Press, Black & BLUE, West Yorkshire Playhouse, Now Then and Word Life, and elsewhere. He works by locking himself in a room filled with nothing but used envelopes and the Koyaanisqatsi soundtrack.
