Think! Shoes

Porous, breathable, hypoallergenic, moisture-absorbing and toxin free

20150406_171442_opt_optA new pair of shoes is an exciting moment. The fresh smell of leather; the firm embrace of the unworn vessel; the eager upthrust and bounce of the untrodden sole. Of course, newness is transient and so, after acquiring my pair of Think! shoes I determined to extend it through rationing. These would be my smart shoes, worn only for special occasions - important meetings... and dates. Sadly, the quality of the shoe made my strategic, staccato of style unsustainable. Once I put them on, I didn’t want to take them off. I didn’t just want to wear them when I needed to scrub up, but also whilst gardening, jogging and in bed. It is ridiculous; they are now the only shoe I wear and that ethereal period of newness is as long gone as the endless, dreamy summers of youth. I have determined to scrub them up and apply copious rejuvenating cream in the vain hope of turning back time. However, the truth is, I am fond of the way the soft leather has gotten softer and they look creased and characterful like the shoes of a skilful craftsman. The kind of artisan who finds satisfaction in details and shares his earthy wisdom in reassuring observations on the nature of life delivered in zen-like stanza - paradoxically, both simple and wildly illuminating. I imagine the creased and calloused hands of such a person shaping the shoe that cradles my foot. To call them comfy is a disservice. They fulfil their duty in the way of the best waiters - you forget they are there. These shoes are light, flexible and easy going but also sturdy and buff. My feet can curl comfortably in them but they also offer support and respond well to a vigorous stride. 20150406_171418_opt (1)My enthusiasm for Think! shoes runs deep. This forward-looking footwear has real soul - the company is grounded in principles of respect for the earth and it co-habitants. No synthetic chemicals are used in the manufacturing process. The vegetable tanned leather is a considered craft and its benefits are many: porous, breathable, hypoallergenic, moisture-absorbing and toxin free. I just spent the Easter weekend visiting aged relatives and family friends some of whom I haven’t seen for many years. There is no doubt that time catches up with all of us eventually. Whilst I endeavour to stay fit and healthy i don’t intend to fight the flow of time. Growing old is what happens. It is how our characters become etched onto our faces and also make some imprint upon the world around us. My Think! shoes already feel like an extension of my body and I am bringing them along for the ride.
